Hello Luka,
In short, no.
When you join, the initial contract term is 12 years, of this, you must serve 3 years before handing in your 1 year notice.
If you start Basic Training and decide it really isn't for you, there will be a window where you can leave before serving your 3 years, but this is only during Basic Training and will be explained to you when you join.
I hope that helps to answer your question. Please feel welcome to ask any follow up questions in the comments.
So, can I leave the army within 3 years if I decide it's not for me?
Luka,
That's almost right: you can "sign off" at your 3 year point if you decide it's not for you. It then takes about a year before you finish resettlement. So, you'll still be in for another year, but you won't necessarily be doing your job because you'll preparing for life outside the Army by completing courses for your next job and handing over your job and kit. This happens no matter what point in your career you sign off and could be thought of as a "1 year notice".
Thank you very much
