As an armourer in the REME your day to day life would be to carry out essential maintenance, repairs and inspections on Weapon systems specific to your Unit. You may also attend ranges and carry out inspections and repairs on weapons as and when needed this could be vehicle weapons such as the 120mm Gun on a CR2 MBT or 30mm RARDEN on a Warrior to standard weapon systems like the Glock and SA80 to Grenade Machine Guns and snipers.

In terms of becoming an Artificer, Once you attend your class one course you will attend your potential artificer board which is basically a series of tests to see if you have the potential to become an artificer. Upon completion given you pass. Once you reach Cpl you will be able to attend your Artificer maths course which is again another part of the selection process. Given you pass you will have to receive a recommendation to attend the Artificer course from your EME or OC and then you will be able to attend the course if you pass the course you will then be Artificer Weapons which is a SME of all things armourer.
