    Hi Daniel,

Unless you are severely long or short sighted you shouldn’t have a problem meeting the sight requirements for the infantry.

There are various eyesight standards (for example potential pilots will need much better eyesight than most other applicants). The standards for roles will vary, but the majority of the army will need to have a prescription better than +6 or -6. The most up to date information will be available from the medical team once you start your application.

    Daniel,

Yes glasses are accepted in the infantry, depending on how severe the eyesight is.

You will have to take a form called an OPTO form to your optician to complete to give the medical staff at the National recruiting centre and understanding of your current eye standards.

If medically cleared, you will be issued with military issue glasses with the correct focal lenses to wear.

    Regards
    J
