Hi, I'm 17 (going into year 13 at school) and applying for a gap year commission. I'm at the 'More Application Questions' stage and have a few questions. I've spoken to everyone I know in the army, and have been into a recruitment office, but no-one knows much about the GYC, so was hoping you'd be able to provide some guidance. I'm not really sure what exactly I can do in the army during a GYC, so don't know what to put in the "ASPIRATIONS" section. Same goes for my regiment preference. However would it count against me if I left these options blank, and can I change them in the future? I intend to visit some regiments over summer, so should I save the 'more application questions until then', although it does say "It may help avoid delays in future" and "we'll need it during the application process."
Hi, have you looked at: https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join/entryoptions/gap-year-commission. This is our guidance. if you need more help i can go and ask the Officer Recruiter point of contact for you, let me know.
