does being deployed always mean getting into combat and danger?

Hello. Not every deployment means your going to be fighting. Almost all of the opportunities to go abroad are for training or adventure training (skiing, diving, sport...etc). The British Army is deployed in peace keeping operations but no combat operations right now. Thanks. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Hey Sophie, thanks for your question. I have deployed on operations three times with the British army, both as an infanteer and as an education officer and have never found myself in combat. We do such a wide variety of roles overseas, and warfighting is only one part of that. If you specialise in a trade, like becoming an engineer or military police officer, you would expect to be doing that same role on operations, or teaching other armies how to do that job.

Our basic training gives us low-level combat skills so we are able to look after ourselves, but that only accounts for a very small amount of the overall role.
