I work in an engineering consultancy and looking to join as a reserve engineering officer.
Hi, you might want to consider 65 Works Group who are a national Reserves Royal Engineer Sqn. They provide specialist infrastructure capability to the MOD and you have to be engineering qualified to join them.
Reserves can be deployed (or 'mobilised') but 99.9% of the time it's because they've volunteered for it. Reservists wouldn't be mobilised unless it was a National crisis / world war.
Some individuals in the Regulars have never worked with Reservists whereas some work with the Reserves frequently. Some units have affiliations with Reserve units and the Reservists will then work and train alongside Regulars in that unit. Personally i think it also depends on capbadge and where you work will depend on how much time you see Reserves and Regulars working together.
