Do you need to know how to swim when joining the infantry? (I am like a brick, always going to the bottom)

Hey Mateusz, Great question thank you!

No, you do not need to know how to swim to join the infantry. Swimming is not a mandatory requirement for enlistment in the infantry. However, it is worth noting that soldiers are tested on their ability to swim and during training recruits will improve their swimming skills and conduct the military swim. While it is not a requirement for joining the infantry, being able to swim can be beneficial for certain training exercises and deployments. There are lots of adventure training opportunities that involve water sports that do require service personnel to pass their swim test to participate.
If you struggle with swimming, it may be a good idea to work on improving your skills in your own time, as it can be a valuable life skill and could be useful during your military career. But rest assured, it will not prevent you from joining the infantry.
