Do you need GCSE’s to apply for the infantry role? I got a 4 (c pass) in English, however a 2 in maths.

Hi, you'll be fine with those GCSEs. You will however, in the future, do your adult numeracy tests as you will need to be Lv 2 (equiv to a 4 at GCSE) in order to promote to Corporal. You might also need maths for a particular role. However, the Army will ensure that you are ready to take the tests and are well prepared.

Thank you Jen for letting me know, i was unsure as the website says “no formal qualifications”, I’m guessing that goes for the infantry and other roles. But depending on if you promote towards a specific role that’s where there is requirements?

    Hi Sam,

Yes you need no formal qualifications to join the infantry. If people don't have 4 or above in Maths and English then we can provide education to bring them up to that standard prior to their promotion to Corporal. Any standards listed on our website will be entry standards and anything later we will provide support to achieve.
