Do you have to do cermonial duties in the grenadier or Coldstream guards? Or can you opt out?
I know there's a parachute platoon but what happens if your not fit enough to join them

Although I cannot give an answer from personal experience, I highly doubt you could opt out of ceremonial duties. These duties are essentially the Guard's identitiy. There are plenty of Infantry Regiments to choose from, I highly recommend researching and finding the best place for you.
