Hi there,
Throughout your Ph1 basic training (Pirbright/ Winchester), you will typically be allowed access to the gym/ running tracks after week 7. However, with an extensive PT programme during your training, alongside busy days learning all the skills you need to be a soldier, you may find yourself not needing or wanting to go the gym as much as you would before joining the army.
During Ph2 trade training, and subsequently once posted to unit, there is normally an opportunity to use the gym outside of your working day. Again, there will be a PT programme that will cover different elements of fitness, both in training and once you arrive at your unit. You might need to pay a deposit for a card or fob key, plus require an induction by a member of gym staff, but other than that, the gym will be free to use, which is a huge bonus. Most camp gyms offer a good selection of cardio equipment and weight machines/ free weights.
On exercise/ operations, you may have access to portable gym equipment, or be able to go to an actual gym, but this will vary depending on where you go.
Hope that helps.
