I can't speak for every job role, but certainly in the Army Air Corps you have a preference on where you go. I know a few other corps also offer you a preference. But remember, it is a preference and won't guarantee you the location/Regiment you want. It will ultimately come down to where you are needed most and where the vacancies are. -

Thankyou for responding, I have another question that leads on from my last one , can you join any regiment? Say you’re English but want to go for the royal Irish can you do that?

Yes you can apply for any Regiment.
