Iâve spent almost 9 years with my mind set on money, money to help my family do better because I didnât have that when I was younger. Now Iâm older Iâm the one having to look after the people I love, my parents are getting old and the worlds a mess therefore the moral of the story is, if anybody or anything comes to threaten my family and my country I want to be prepared and ready to defend it
Hi there, thank you for your very thought provoking question.
I can honestly say that I truly believe in the work of the British Army. We are very fortunate to live in a democratic and relatively safe society in the UK and I want to assist in any way that I can to keep it that way.
Whilst some people may question historic reasons for deploying the military, what has never been in question is the actions of the military whilst deployed. On every operational tour which I have deployed on, I have come home feeling that I have made a tangible, positive difference, either to the country deployed in, or in protecting our home nation.
I have never been motivated by money; to me believing in the job I do, job satisfaction, and job security are more important. However, the financial package, and additional benefits offered by the British Army are excellent. The pay is generous, the pension is the best in the UK, the health and dental care is first class, the support to families is something which wouldn’t be received in any other job. On top of this the military provides accommodation at a greatly subsidised cost, and can assist with cost of education. So if money is still important to you it is not an issue and certainly shouldn’t dissuade you from joining the military.
I am incredibly proud to be an officer in the British Army. It is so much more than a job and I honestly believe that we are held in high regard by the general public who we are protecting.
I hope this goes some way to answering your question but please feel free to come back to me if I can provide any more information.
