Do vehicle mechanics get deployed and can you request to work just in the UK?
Really want to join up but due to personal circumstances would at least have to be in the UK. Don't care how long of a drive home at weekend

Vehicle mechanics can be deployed. I am not sure if you can request just to work in the UK, this is not possible for most roles in the Army, I would encourage you to discuss this in more detail with the recruitment team who will be able to advise more on what the role entails. In your role as Vehicle Mechanic you will deploy along with your unit as and when Operations or exercises require it. I would question why you would wish not to deploy outside of the UK and embrace all of the opportunities available in the Armed Forces?
