Hello, thanks for your question. Hopefully I can provide some insight until a member of the REME is able to answer:
Recovery Mechanics are absolutely expected to deploy on Exercises and Operations. They're really important and help recover our damaged vehicles.
How often they deploy will be dependant on where they're posted and what commitments their unit has, but they can expect to be deployed regularly to help support Exercises.
On leaving service, they'll have experience and qualifications in recovering damaged vehicles using numerous methods and employing cranes, lifting gear, and mechanical theory. These skills would no doubt translate well into any civilian vehicle recovery mechanic roles.
I hope that's helped answer some of your question!
