Do Infantry Officers go out on the ground with the smaller 4 - 6 man teams on more serious ops or do they stay at HQ?

I’m concerned that if I join as an Infantry Officer that I will be left at HQ whilst the soldiers go out and conduct the operations that I’ve helped plan. I would much rather be with them on the ground operating in smaller 4 - 6 man teams. Or is it only NCOs that operate on that level?

Hi, on the whole young officers will always go out on the ground with their soldiers - this is absolutely the crux of the job. Later in your career you might be at HQ a bit more as you will be involved in a lot more strategically than at the tactical (ground) level.
