Do Guards Officers do standing outside the sentry boxes outside palaces and if so do they use drill rifles or the swords
So what I mean is like when they stand outside the boxes outside the palaces or do they just sit at a desk or something

Officers don’t stand on sentry boxes, they take a role of guard commander.
Yes your correct, officers use swords on ceremonial and during any drill. The rifles you see being carried by any soldiers during drill are fully functional rifles, the only difference between those and ones uses on the range are 2 plastic covers that cover the stock and the sight.
