    Good Afternoon,

I am a Royal Engineer and have worked closely with Geographical Technicians throughout my career. I can confirm that after finishing your Phase 2 Training at the Royal School of Military Survey in Hermitage, Berkshire, you will NOT be a LCpl. In order to become a LCpl you will be reported and boarded through the normal SJAR (Serviceperson's Joint Appraisal Report) process. Once you have 2 reports in rank you will be eligible to go for the board of promotion for Lance Corporal, where you will be graded against tour peers based on performance and potential. Being eligible and going to a promotion board does not guarantee successful promotion.

    Warm Regards,

    Staff Sergeant Rob Needham
