The short answer is yes. The SA80 is only designed for right handed use. If you were to fire it left handed then the cocking handle would hit you in the face and potentially cause a serious injury. The ejected case from the round cold also cause injury as it can get hot during prolonged firing.
We have many soldiers who join that are left handed and none that I have trained (approx 300) have had an issue adapting to fire the rifle right handed. Your instructors during Basic Training will assist you if you require additional training.
