Want to make sure I’m making right choice as I want to be a hands on nurse and get all of the experience but have good leadership skills. I’m worried that joining as an Officer would mean I’d be more admin/management and not get the clinical skills/experience/development.
As a nursing officer you will still get hands on as you are required to still meet CPD requirements to maintain your registration. If this is something you are unsure of then try to look at insight courses to try and get experience first, or open days at Birmingham city university usually have military representatives who will be able to explain the difference in more detail. You can always become a soldier first and then progress as an officer later down the line but as a nurse you will always require some sort of leadership quality as you start off at the rank of corporal if you go the soldier route so already have responsibilities early on in your career just on a smaller scale than that of an officer.
