I’m interested in an active role and something a bit technical at the same time and this seems like the perfect mix. A infantry signaller. But there is a lack of information online on how to become one and what the tasks include. I’m assuming your a infantry soldier first and you work your way up.
As a Combat Communications Specialist in the Infantry you are first and foremost an Infantry Soldier. Signallers play a vital role in combat, so you must be techno savvy, articulate and have the Soldiering skills to prevent data falling into enemy hands. You will complete an apprenticeship in digital communications, this will include fibre optic LAN, High Capacity Data WAN and satellite links. As your career progresses you will have the opportunity to become qualified in System Management and will be involved in the communications planning at a Battalion level. You will also have the opportunity to drive and crew the vehicles within your platoon.
