I have signed a one year tenancy agreement, with my partner, would I still be able to live where I am now if I joined the army? Or do I have to wait until the tenancy agreement is up?
You wouldn't be able to stay there during training, but yes: as with any employer, you can live where you want to as long as you turn up for work. The Army differs from some jobs in that you may have to work for extended periods of time (e.g. when on exercise or deployment), and you wouldn't be able to return home during that time.
Most soldiers choose to live in service accommodation because it's closer to work, but that doesn't stop you renting or owning property away from work.
Thank you for your reply Steven. Much appreciated.
