CMT Advice – Ex-Military Combat Medic

Hi all, I’m looking to join as a CMT. I’ve got experience and qualifications from the Ukrainian military (CLS/NAEMT CM/C LVL 3 TCCC). I'm currently waiting on an academic waiver due to lack of Maths GCSE (have eq: FS L2). Curious what the joining process + daily life are like as a CMT—any insights?

Sounds like you're already trained to our new standards, should your application be successful you may get an exemption from trade training but that will be up for the HQ to decide. In regards to day to day it depends what unit you end up going to. You have MMRs which I'm sure you would have come across before who assist with training but are also deployable as a regiment. You also have different regiments with different capabilities, on the med side, such as 16 which is attached to the parachute regiment, armoured units and light units too. All have their own roles to play. You may also be attached to a RAP (regimental aid post) within a different unit. There you will mostly do primary health care and are responsible for keeping soldier fit and healthy you will also then be expected to provide medical cover as and when needed.

As for joining processes you should talk to your careers office and they will explain the process for you or if you have specific questions that they cant assist with the call the NRC on 0345 600 80 80.
