I'm looking to go to Harrogate and my choice of REME Aircraft Technician isn't available, I've been offered AAC Ground Crew as they have said this is the nearest similar option. Can you please tell me a bit more about this role/job and the opportunities available if I accepted this offer. Many thanks
After passing out from AFC Harrogate, you will come to Middle Wallop in Hampshire for your Initial Trade Training. Once you have completed the generic elements of that training, you will stream into one of our soldier trades of Aviation Groundcrew Specialist of Aviation Communication Specialist. Our Groundcrew Specialists are responsible for moving, refuelling and re-arming the aircraft as well as setting up Forward Arming and Refuelling Points. You will also be trained as a rigger marshaller where you will be responsible for rigging underslung loads and hooking them onto various aircraft types. As a Communication Specialist you will be responsible for maintaining communications between the aircraft and the command post. You may also be responsible for assisting the aircrew in planning tasks on the Mission Planning Stations and uploading various information into the aircraft.
