I mean can you take part in the training and get the qualifications without serving the 4 years, could I leave after basic training to pursue other things or is that not possible without serving first
The Army spends a great deal of money per soldier to get them fully trained and qualified - this in part is why you are expected to serve 4 years.
If you want the Army experience but also to persue another career then perhaps look at the Army Reserves. You could then do the army as a part time role, where you live now and doing a different job - like the best of both worlds.
