The process for dog handler is the same as any other soldier application, the fact that you already have experience should help you jump up the waiting list as this is a popular job.

The military working dogs unit (MWD) is based at north Luffenham in Rutland. Working patterns vary depending on specific tasking, as for accommodation of the dogs i wouldn't know, i know they do have kennels on the camp which you will often rotate around on duty to care for those who's owners aren't present. Apart from being on duty or deployments weekends are pretty much your own and depending on distance to camp you may be able to commute to and from each day otherwise you would need to stay on camp or move in to a quarter if you are eligible to do so. There are other areas where dog handlers are posted but these are few and far between and will become more evident when you join.
