Hello, I think a lot of people have a sterotypical view of what they think they understand about the army (that there's lots of soldiers shouting all the time, getting shouted at with anything physical whilst crawling round in lots of mud!). The Army has its moments, especially in training when you will find yourself shouted at and you will be crawling through some mud but everyone has gone through it, soldiers and officers. The Army really does pride itself in coaching and mentoring. Long gone are the days that people think you get the best results out of people by yelling at them. I believe the Army is a great career choice for a lot of different people. The training and opportunities available (apprenticeship, qualifications, sport, travel etc) are excellent and so are the people you meet and work with. There are few careers that offer the same package that the Army offers. On a normal working day, it's usually 8.30am - 5pm but you might have Physical Training (ie like PE) in the morning or afternoons x2 a week and Weds afternoon is reserved (where possible) for people to partake in sport. Things are different on Ops or on exercise but that's part and parcel of the excitement and adventure of army life.
