Can those serving in the Australian Army apply? Australia says they don’t do lateral transfers to the British army

Career Management-Army in Australia says they don’t do Lateral Transfers to the British Army. British Army recruiting says they do. How can someone apply while still serving in the ADF?

    Hi Eamon,

    Thank you for your question.

I am unsure of the Australian Army policy and that would be what you would be governed by. In order to transfer from the British Army to the Australian Army the individual would be required to resign from the British Army and then apply to the Australian Army so you may find that the same is true in reverse. You are certainly eligible to join the British Army as a member of the commonwealth though.

I would suggest you open an application to join the British Army (found at the following link: https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join) and then the specialist recruiters will be in touch to talk through the process.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to apply, as I’m still serving in the ADF, and am not in the UK. I’m unable to progress passed the “Are you eligible” phase
