Good Afternoon and thanks for your question.
Joining the Army is a process unlike any other, and it's a job which doesn't work for everyone. The Army understands this, and we won't want to force you to do something which wasn't what you expected it to be.
Because of this, when you join you will have a window with which you can leave and Discharge yourself from the army should you wish to. This happens on occasion for some people who's situation may have changed since joining, or they may have simply changed their mind about continuing with their Army career.
The process for it is relatively easy, if you express a desire to leave, you will have a 1 to 1 chat with your platoon commander whom will help you to think about your decision and what your concerns are before coming to a decision. If you are still wanting to leave, then you can expect it to take only a few days for the process to go through and you will then return home to pursue other means of employment.
This is beneficial just in case the army is not what you expected or you have changed your mind about joining. But your recruiter and the team at your local careers office will be able to help you along the way to make sure you know exactly what to expect and you have the best possible experience of joining the British Army.
Hope this helps, if you have any other questions then feel free to ask.
