You can make your own food in the block and a lot of people do.
It's worth noting that permitted equipment can be limited depending on which camp you're at. For example, where I'm based now we have hobs, a microwave, and a grill, but no standard oven, whereas the last place I was based we had hobs and a microwave, but no grill.
Personally, I don't mind eating at the on-camp diner, the food can be hit and miss but it's comparatively cheaper than making your own food.
