I’m going to enroll in AFC Harrogate but worried about managing my hair braiding my hair helps and I might not have time to do it in the morning so it’s convenient. Does the army allow braids?

Hiya, As you are Anonymous i can't see what gender you are. However really good question and worth noting that the rules for women with long hair have just changed not too long ago!

You now have the option how yiou wear your hair in uniform. As well having it up in a bun female soldiers are also now alowed to have a ponytail or plait, braids, twists, cornrows or locks.

In addition servicewomen may also wear hair extensions, weaves and wigs providing they are of a neutral colour, do not extend below the belt, and can be worn with the appropriate headdress.

You will find the Buddy-Buddy sytem you will learn and practice in training will take care of this worry. You will have no problem getting ready in time for work this is something to look forward to learning in training and becoming good at!

Good Luck! if you have any more questions or worries before you start please ask away and I will be happy to answer!
