Hello,
No, the Army do not currently have specialty training places available in paediatrics.
I'm not at my work computer currently so don't have access to the DIN on the bursary scheme, but the paperwork I can find says that the 4 years is from the start of your Phase 1 training, so after FY1&2.
What they are really expecting is you to do FY1&2, the commissioning course, the postgraduate medical officers course and the 2 years working as a GDMO. They will not expect you to stay in the military to complete specialty training if you do not want to. The old cadet scheme meant that some who left did end up either paying a small amount of money back, or joining the reserves for a year, but I am not sure how they will manage the bursars - they should give you all of the information in detail when you start your application. Either way, I wouldn't let it put you off joining!
