I am currently in medical school thinking about applying for the army, however I really want to know more about what it is to be a doctor in the army first. We are expected to do an elective placement for medical school - would it be possible to do a placement with a military doctor?
I am not sure if this is something that we can offer. You would be better of talking to the NRC on 0345 600 80 80 or contacting someone from the officer recruitment team.
We can offer an internship although this would not be medical related it would give you an insight to army.
All Army doctors would have completed the same training and sit on a 10 week PQO course at RMAS Sandhurst to qualify you then would be expected to sit on a transitioning course which will explain the differences between civilian and military practices.
Alternatively you could find a hospital such as the QE in Birmingham and ask for a placement there and see if you can go into the military hospital that is attached to get an insight but not guaranteed it would be accepted.
