I am a Lance Corporal in Buckinghamshire ACF. I would like to go to AFC Harrogate and do a medical apprenticeship but I am worried that I might not like the medical side of things and will want to change to an infantry role, would I be allowed to do this.
You would still need to be within the age bracket to go to AFC Harrogate and changes from medical to infantry can happen but are very rare. However should you go from infantry to medical you will more likely to be able to achieve this and you will be able to get a better insight to the medical side through your battlefield casualty drill / team medic courses which you can do anywhere with any unit. The apprenticeship as a CMT is in healthcare support and not a medical apprenticeship that a doctor will undergo. This is still in its developmental stages and will require you to go the officer route if this is what you wanted to do. The healthcare support apprenticeship is available to all CMTs and can be completed during your trade training phase.
