    Hi,

    To become an army psychiatrist there are two main options - either you can train as a psychiatrist via the civilian route and then join once qualified, or;

    Complete A Levels
    Gain a place at medical school
    During year 1 apply for an army bursary (or wait until after medical school and apply to join without the bursary).
    Complete foundation years 1&2
    Complete the short commissioning course and the army postgraduate medicine course.
    Complete two (and a bit) years as a general duties medical officer (GDMO). During the second year, apply to specialise in psychiatry.
    Complete your psychiatry training while employed by the army.

    Best of luck, it can sound like a lot, but the route to get there is varied, interesting and fun (particularly as a GDMO)!
