Hello Ian,
If you're referring to the amount of downtime a Vehicle Mechanic (VM) gets: naturally, it can depend on your posting and any exercises/operations, but often you'll work something like 0800 - 1700 every day. What you do outside those hours will be up to you. Some VMs I've worked with like to stay in the workshop to work on personal projects, but most will either relax in the block or go out with mates.
