At what point am I able to specify that I want to be an HR officer and not a general officer?

Anonymous asked a question to Robert H.

I just want to ensure that during this process I have the opportunity to apply exclusively for an HR officer role as I am not interested in many other roles

The Officer route is unique, in the sense that you will not choose your Capbadge/role until during training, opposed to Soldiers who must choose prior to the Assessment centre.

Thanks for your reply! So would there be a chance that when choosing, during training, that I wouldn’t get to pick HR?

Not a problem. Whilst I've been in a very long time, I've never been subject to the officer route that being said. From several Officers I've spoken to over the years, i'm led to believe that successful Officers tend to get what they aspire to join.

For many, the Combat related areas are the ultimate desire. Which should allow you more freedom to select a HR role with a larger majority competing for other roles. That being said, nothing is 100%. If you research your hopeful trade/role, score highly throughout, have strong leadership qualities and are physically robust, you're more likely to be able to have a better outcome in what you choose.
