As a vehicle Mechanic where would I be working? Would it be alot of work away from home? I dont want to lose my partner.

As a VM you would likely work in a REME batallion or Light Aid Detachment (LAD), these are all over the UK. The work away depends on your unit's commitments, you would likely spend some time away, but not the majority of time.
As an example, I worked alongside VMs in my first posting, some would go away on exercise overseas for 4 months at a time, others would stay in the UK all year.
Depending on your relationship status, your partner could live with you in Service Family Accommodation.
