As a dog as dog handler in the army do you get to choose what dog you want or are you get given one

I dont know how dogs are aligned to people. But i'd imagine it will be as required.
If an attack dog needs a human and you need a dog.. boom.
Or it could be a case of individual preference if there is scope to do it that way.
