As a CMT can I mainly be frontline? One of the first to go anywhere in the world when required.

When it comes to front-line combat its the only role I have my sight set on as I would want to play my part in helping save lives and only engaging in fire when necessary. I'm aware there's a multitude of tasks CMT's could do and I just wanted to know if I could do this without being sidetracked too often with other tasks? Apologies if I come across as narrow minded I just have a rough idea of what I want to do and would like advice on the matter before moving closer to my goals. Learning to be a soldier, helping save lives & travel are the big ones for me when it comes to considering this as a career path.

When CMTs are posted that can express a preference for where they would like to work and which unit they are attached to. If you enjoy travel, then it's worth doing some research when you put in your postings form. Each year the units that are most likely to deploy first will change.

You won't always get your first choice, and sometimes you may need to work in a role you don't want to do.

CMTs may also be 'trawled', so if a unit is deploying, and for whatever reason their CMT is unable to go with them, they may borrow a CMT from another unit. If you are willing to volunteer for trawls, and your own unit can spare you, then you may have more opportunities to go away.
