Are there roles focused only on defence?

I’m not comfortable going abroad to kill, but I’m open to protecting the UK from attacks or invasions. I’d be happy to serve in a role that helps defend people, infrastructure, or airspace at home. Just want to know if such positions exist before I consider applying. Thanks, Saif

    Hi Saifur,

I'm content with your question unfortunately provided it's a legal order (Conforms with the rules of engagement/Geneva convention etc) on an Operational deployment as a Soldier first, trade second, you might find yourself in this scenario. If you are looking at Communications, Intelligence and IT specifically, whilst it's unlikely for you to be in one of those situations being a Soldier first, however unlikely, it's still possible and I'd be doing you a disservice if i said otherwise.

Whilst i respect and understand your objections just know that the British Army as a whole is fully prepared to defend not only the UK but or Allies around the world at all times.

We do not have the luxury of declaring where and what we do in that respect in this line of work. I'd suggest maybe a Civil service role as an alternative. They aren't part of the Army but do work in collaboration with us.
