I am in the UOTC and would like to become an officer. I will graduate with an engineering degree and would like to put it to use; not necessarily as an engineer but solving problems. I notice that most roles only require GCSEs, but I don't want to have wasted my time at university.
Hi Adam,
There isn't any PQO roles specifically within engineering. However to join the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers as an officer you would need an engineering degree in the first place. As you are already in UOTC I won't bore you with what you already know about being an officer but in the REME you will be in charge of 30+ qualified and capable tradesmen and dealing will all the problems and planning that arises when dealing with the Light Aid Detachment or Company you will be in. So like you said not necessarily as an engineer but in a problem solving and planning capacity.
Hope this helps.
