Is it like joining the normal Irish guards or do you have to specify to your recruiter?
Hi there, thanks for your question.
The Irish Guards Corps of Drums are part of 1st Battalion Irish Guards, so if this is your goal you should apply to join the Battalion as normal and then specify this preference to your chain of command once you have finished the typical training pipeline.
If you already have some percussion skills have you considered applying to the Royal Corps of Army Music and the Irish Guards Band? The musical eligibility criteria are outlined here: https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles/corps-of-army-music/musician
You can check out more about Army Music at our website here: https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/royal-corps-of-army-music/ or Facebook page here: www.facebook.com/Royalcorpsofarmymusic. If you want to find out more detail about our careers then fill in our contact form here and one of the team will get back to you: forms.gle/hth5FLA9hD43HXYz7.
All the best with your application.
