Hi Andres,
In short, no it is not possible to continue studying to your GCSEs full time when you join. You could, in your spare time, continue with the study but any roles that need GCSEs, you must have before joining.
In that case, someone studying their GCSEs course could apply for a no qualification role and do it full time?
Hi, yes you can only join into a role that you meet the mandatory academic requirements for. I'm a tank crewman which is a role you do not need any GCSE's for, I also had my GCSE's prior to joining so could have chose a wide number of roles. It just meant this role was more practical based than some other more intense theory based job roles, which suited me personally. Having now served almost 29 years I've gained degree level education in leadership and management, all through career progression and promotion courses. So go for a role you can from the options available to you and a role that you will enjoy is my advise. What ever the specific job you will gain job related qualifications and over time work your way up and along the way gaining higher level qualifications as you progress.
In the case i was to apply for Tank crewman i would eventually have to abandon all my studies right?Would it be worth it at such young age?
Yes only you know what it is the right time to apply and hopefully be successful and join. Be it post year 11 from school, or further down the line post FE college education. The Army has people join between the ages of 16 to 36 in the main, it depends what is right for you.
Im going to wait for my GCSE to apply next year, however im scared that when i apply i might not make it,in terms of applying and going through training, what are the most important things someone would need to know in order to pass training, and what are the conditions like through training.
