After training , do you get a choice of where you are stationed? If so are there any REME barracks near Staffordshire ?

    Hi there,

You do get to have input into where you are posted. You complete a PPP which is a form where you express your preferences. The army will always seek to align these with its own goals but be aware, the needs of the Army ultimately come first so although they try their best, if they need you elsewhere then you will go elsewhere.

REME can be located in Battalions of REME soldiers or also as Light Aid Detachments aligned to other regiments. Because of there, pretty much, where there is a regiment there will likely be REME aligned to them. Staffordshire is predominantly the location for reserve units, they do have associated REME but fewer than regular regiments.

I wouldn’t base your decision to join based on wanting to serve in Staffordshire for the majority of your career? You will move around the UK and maybe the world.

    Hope this helps.
