There are currently a lot of changes happening and although this is not currently the case it will be in the near future. At the moment though the current standards are to go to a medical regiment or field hospital or equivalent (as the names are changing) for a few years to get some experience before being allowed to work with them the newer generation of medics will soon be able to go directly into medical centres with their desired units that being said there also has to be availability for this and you may not always get the option that you wanted.
