Anonymous asked a question to Gary T.
I don’t even know if this is the right person to ask to. I’m currently not old enough to join, I want to though. When I can there’s a few things, I kind of want to be a mechanic and at the same time I want to be something like an infantry soldier, I know their very different
Hi,
Hopefully Gary won't mind if I jump in?
This platform is aimed at gaining an insight into life in the British Army by asking serving Soldiers and Officers, but we're happy to point you in the right direction when it comes to applying.
All applications start online, through the Army Jobs website. Once you've submitted your application there will be a medical review and a career discussion with your local Army Career Centre before you attend the Assessment Centre. Once you've passed, you'll get a start date for Basic Training.
Those are great role choices. Don't worry about being indecisive at this point, plenty of us were before we put in our application (and some of us still are afterwards!). Make sure you do as much research as you can on the roles that interest you before you apply, though. It's a big decision and will shape your Army career. You'll be asked to provide multiple choices (I had to give three when I joined and got my first preference, but this may have changed, maybe somebody will comment to confirm).
If you need any more help on the application process have a look for your local careers centre and pop in for a chat, they honestly don't bite!
I hope that's gone some way toward answering your question.
